Four Seasons teamed up with FMC is pleased to offer in-house hemodialysis services for our residents. Our Dialysis unit offers a comfortable setting for those patients who cannot utilize outpatient dialysis centers due to their medical and or physical condition, or those who cannot financially afford the transportation. Patients are either dialyzed at their bed-side or brought to the dialysis room, thus providing an easy transition to and from their treatments. Our staff is experienced in the care of dialysis patients and all of their special needs.
What are the kidneys main functions?
The kidneys remove toxic waste products from the body, regulate the electrolyte balance, maintain fluid balance and release hormones. When the kidneys fail, waste products and excess fluid build up in the body to toxic levels. Kidney failure or renal failure can be caused by a variety of diseases and can affect people of any age or race.
What is Dialysis?
Dialysis is a mechanical process that cleanses the blood by removing unwanted toxins, waste and excess fluids from the blood and balances the body`s fluids. The most common method of dialysis is hemodialysis which is usually performed three times a week.
A mechanical device called a dialyzer or an “artificial kidney” which cleanses the blood, removes waste products and excess fluids. The cleansed blood is returned to the body.
The hemodialysis process usually takes three to four hours. This process along with medication, controlled fluid intake and strict diet, help maintain the body`s natural balance. Our goal is for each resident to reach the highest level of wellness possible.
